About

Raphael Aragão, born in 1994, Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, is a guitar player and composer born and raised in a musical family. His father, George Aragão, is a piano player well known in the music scene of Recife, and introduced Raphael to many of his musical references. So Raphael grew up listening to Milton Nascimento, Pat Metheny, João Bosco, Tom Jobim, Elis Regina, as well as some regional genres as Forró, Frevo, Baião, Maracatu. Raphael’s background has a lot of influence from these genres mixed with other Brazilian rhythms and his world music references. Raphael started playing as a professional musician in 2013 in a project called Claudia Beija: Noel dá Samba; since 2013 Raphael has been doing this hired gun job as a sideman with local artists playing in nightclubs, restaurants and concerts.

Raphael graduated in Music Education at Federal University of Pernambuco and has a technician (undergrad) degree in Guitar at Music Conservatory of Pernambuco.

Beyond his sideman jobs, Raphael has his own projects like Rivoa Duo, in which he played some cover songs as well as original ones with a harmonica player and later on in 2022 the duo got bigger and turned into a quintet.

He has a duo with his father, called G.R.ÃO, where they play their original tunes as well as some tunes that are a core for their own musical foundation.

Raphael has played in two Frevo Orchestras from Recife  and today is playing in a Big Band called Capital Big Bang from IFPE (Federal Institute of Pernambuco). And while all of this musician work is happening, Raphael is a music teacher with private students and at School of Rock.
